New Locations and Opportunities!

I have some good news to share! I am moving many of my store items into a new space in a storefront opening this weekend.

Roadside Redemption, located in Plymouth at 168 Court Street (the white Colonial up on the hill just before Benny’s), is holding its Grand Opening Celebration this Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2, from 12pm – 6pm.

Drawings for prizes will be held throughout the weekend, and tasty treats will be supplied by Cakes Cakes Cakes in Sagamore.

Everything in this new store is either restyled or repurposed vintage, or hand-crafted originals. You’ll be able to shop two floors of merchandise all created by over 25 local artists who will also be joining in on the grand opening celebration!

I’m really looking forward to having a space in this unique store! You’ll be able to look through my record collection here. Stop by and visit!

Raynham Flea Market

Starting this Sunday, I’ll also be sharing a small space at the Raynham Flea Market with Fred, formerly my jukebox supplier.

Dubbed “New England’s Premier Flea Market”, the Raynham event is open every Sunday from 8am – 5pm. It’s located at the intersection of Routes 495, 24 & 44 West (Exit 13B from 24) at the corner of Judson and South Street in Raynham.

Cost of admission is $1 for adults and 50 cents for seniors. Children 12 and under are free.

Main Street Antiques

I’ve also put a few small items (including some records) in Main Street Antiques, located at 46 Main Street in Plymouth.

My section will be right down the center of the aisle as you come in.

I’m hoping to be able to put a small sign on the wall that says “Better Times Antiques & Collectibles” so people will be able to recognize what’s mine.

Goodbye, For Now

To all my loyal and wonderful customers,

I wanted to let you know that I must regretfully close my doors at my current location for good.

It has been a lot of fun for me at the South Park Avenue location, and previously at Village Landing. But times have changed, and it’s no longer possible for me to continue in business.

There are a few possibilities in the works for me to share some space with other merchants in the future. I will pass that information along once I know more.

Jim Lonborg Autograph Session

Former Red Sox pitcher Jim Lonborg was in our store for a signing session on Saturday, August 24th.

He signed baseball memorabilia that people purchased in our store or brought along. He was very friendly, talking to all and taking pictures with anyone who asked. Some of those photos are pictured below.

And the Winners Are…

We’re pleased to announce the two recent winners for our One Fund Raffle.

Back in May we began selling raffle tickets for $2 each to help benefit the Boston Marathon victims. We held the drawing on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Our first prize winner was Erin Murray of Lakeville, MA. She is the proud new owner of a vintage AMI/Rowe CD jukebox fully stocked with CDs!

Our second prize winner was Mark Sellier of Plymouth. He won a pair of tickets to a Red Sox home game against the Baltimore Orioles on August 28!

Congratulations to both of our winners!

We want to thank all of you who participated in the raffle this summer. With your help, we were able to donate $800 to The One Fund Boston!

Get Your Red Sox Autograph!

Former Red Sox pitcher Jim Lonborg will be in our store signing baseball memorabilia on Saturday, August 24th from 1 to 3 PM.

This will be a busy day in downtown Plymouth since the Plymouth Festival will be happening too, and we’ll be handing out flyers to let folks know about the signing. We’re expecting a good turnout, so make sure to get here early!

We have lots of baseball memorabilia on hand that you can purchase so he can sign it, or you can bring your own items for him to sign.

Record Blowout Sidewalk Sale

Looking for some old vinyl? Stop in to Better Times Emporium, your home for anything and everything nostalgic, on Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August 18th for our Vinyl Record Blow-Out Sidewalk Sale (weather permitting).

There will be special tables set up outside full of your favorite vinyl 33 records!

You’ll find everything from Big Band to Bread, Johnny Mathis to Rolling Stones, Oldies to Motion Picture Sound Tracks, and much, much more!

My extensive record selection and store are featured this month online in Limelight Magazine.

It will also be Elvis Weekend (Friday, August 16th is the anniversary of his passing), so there will be a SALE on ALL of his albums from Friday the 16th through Sunday the 18th!

While you are here, there are three floors of antiques, collectibles, and memorabilia for you to search through. The second level is mainly records (both 33’s and 45’s), so come on in and enjoy the day!

Our first Better Times Emporium television ad will start showing this week on Thursday night’s 10 pm Pawn Stars show. It may also run on this week’s edition of Storage Wars.

Either next week or whenever the next new episode of American Pickers airs, our 15-second commercial will run as well.

Our TV spot should continue each Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday for Pawn Stars, American Pickers, and American Restoration (once it returns with new episodes).

Elvis Weekend

It’s that time again, Elvis Weekend!

Starting on Friday, August 16th (the anniversary of his passing in 1977) and running through Sunday, August 18th, we will be having an Elvis the “King-size” SALE on everything Elvis!

All Elvis merchandise will be 10% off for the entire weekend, including some of his original record albums, Elvis lunch boxes, shopping bags, note pads, coffee mugs, and other memorabilia.

On Friday and Saturday, there will be Elvis movies playing on our TV, and of course Elvis music on our vintage jukeboxes all day! You can even have your picture taken with our life-size Elvis cut-out!

On the same weekend, we are having our 2nd Annual Record Blow-Out Sale, so there will be hundreds of vinyl records for you to choose from!

One Fund Raffle

Back in May we began selling raffle tickets to help benefit the Boston Marathon victims. All proceeds are going to One Fund Boston.

So far we’ve done quite well, having already gathered over $600 in ticket sales. With less than two weeks to go, this is the final call if you want to participate!

First prize is a vintage AMI/Rowe CD jukebox fully stocked with CDs! Second prize will be two tickets to a Red Sox home game against the Baltimore Orioles on August 28.

Tickets are going for $2 each. You may purchase as many as you wish. The raffle will be held on Sunday, August 18th. Winners need not be present at the drawing.

We enjoy helping to support our local charities. Last year, we raffled off a pair of Red Sox tickets to benefit Jordan Hospital.

Making Waves in the Media

We’ve already been in our new storefront at 27 South Park Avenue (next to Aristocracy Salon & Day Spa, and attached to the same building as the Sun Dynasty) for two months now!

We’re enjoying the extra space that has allowed us to bring in more inventory, such as Pac-Man and other vintage video games, gas pumps, and jukeboxes.

Our summer hours are Mondays through Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 7 PM, and Sundays from noon to 6 PM.

Lately we’ve been making some great connections in the media! You may have seen our recent feature, “Jukebox Hero”, in the May issue of South Shore Living Magazine (unsolicited, by the way – we were an “Editor’s Choice!). If you didn’t, you can view it here.

We were also featured in Limelight Magazine last week. One of their staff recently visited my store and was impressed by how much vinyl I had for sale. You can read her article here – she did a fantastic job!

Over the next few months, we’ll also be advertising on Comcast during three very popular shows that appeal to my niche: American Pickers, Pawn Stars, and American Restoration.
